Death has laid its icy hands on him,
And his family grieves in sorrow deep.
What are we to do in this time of despair,
Who shall we run to, where can we seek relief?
Children left behind, though grown, still yearn
For the love of their father, now gone away.
Who will bring back their beloved ones?
With whom shall they share their joy today?

The woman who stood behind him was weak,
For the man who shared her youth has passed.
How do I comfort my children, my love?
For they are mourning, hearts overcast.
Please come back to me, my beloved,
For I miss you more than words can say.
But I cannot question our Maker’s plan,
For He knows best, He leads the way.
He gives and takes, for He understands
What is right for all of humankind?
Rest well, my love, rest well in peace,
Until we meet again in eternal time.
