Stolen from the Street, Crowned by Love

I never knew love could be this beautiful until I met her. It happened at the lowest point of my life, when everything seemed to collapse around me. My previous relationship had ended after I lost my job, and the weight of failure left me convinced I would remain alone. Life grew so difficult that I often skipped meals, surviving on hope and determination.
Following the wisdom of the elders, I decided to change location in search of a better life. I left home without knowing where the journey would end. But as darkness overtook the day, regret filled me,I had made a mistake that no correction ink could erase. With nowhere to go, I resolved to sleep at the car station.
That night, as I sat sober and weary, a beautiful, graceful lady approached me. Surprised, she asked what I was doing in town at such an hour. I shared my story, and she invited me to follow her. Though hesitant, I obeyed. She gave me water, a warm meal, and a place to sleep with her younger brother until I could find my footing.
By daybreak, word of my presence spread quickly. Within a week, I had become known in the community for teaching children freely and offering help wherever I could. The chief noticed my commitment and arranged for me to teach at the same school where my helper worked.
Unbeknownst to me, the chief asked her if she would consider building a life with me. She agreed. When he asked me, I hesitated, fearing she might think I felt indebted. But after reflection, I asked her out. From that moment, everything moved swiftly, and I never regretted the decision.
She was a true African princess, beautiful, intelligent, and well-trained. She made me feel like a king in my own kingdom. Her presence brought me luck, joy, and a new appreciation for the hardships that had led me to her.
We often laughed together about how I had “run away” from my town only to find her, and I teased her that she had “stolen me from the street.” Through her, I learned that love is not just a feeling, it is a gift that transforms hardship into hope when you meet the right person.
