A Holy Night of Grace

By: Naa Doodua Doodu

In a manger

A virgin wept; her time drew near,
Her heart weighed heavy with trembling fear.
From door to door, no refuge found,
No place to rest on holy ground.

A faithful husband by her side,
In love and strength, their fears he tried.
The inns were full, the night grew cold,
Yet Heaven watched this tale unfold.

A manger crude, a cradle bare,
Became the throne for Love’s repair.
Then came the cry, the infant’s wail,
A sound that shattered sorrow’s veil.

The shepherds knelt, their hearts aflame,
To greet the child of the holy name.
The wise men traveled from afar,
Guided by a steadfast star.

The heavens thundered, “Hallelujah!” loudly,
As angels formed a radiant cloud.
Their melodies, so soft yet strong,
Lifted weary souls in song.

The star above spun bright and true,
Proclaiming peace, creation new.
Rejoice, O house of David dear,
The promised King, your freedom is near.

For He, the Lord of all was born,
Through Judah’s line, in stable worn.
The humblest clan, His birthplace small,
Yet in His hands, salvation for all.
