A typical thing about addicted individuals is that they usually deny their situation. They violently protest anything done by others to bring to the fore the realization that they are stuck in the quagmire of alcohol and drug use. The addicts are always actively engaged in efforts to remain in a state of blindness, apart from those who have willfully made peace with their situation.
These buyers of potent opiates can argue that they are only taking painkillers and not drug users, justifying their actions by mentioning the tough working conditions. According to them, they ingest these drugs in order to ease the excruciating pain that they endure. Others even resort to using stimulants, citing that these tools enable them to remain vigilant and work for extended hours.
Others go as far as to use coffee, insisting that it energizes them and enhances their stamina. While the intake is sporadic, the repeated intake of it is where the actual problem begins.
Despite the relentless spread of information on the risks of drug abuse, particularly among the younger population, the majority of them seem not to be immune to its message and the harsh consequences it has on their mental and physical well-being. Most of the time, they adopt the mindset that the diminution of mental sharpness is brought about not by the drugs but by family issues. They hold fast to their denial of recognizing that the consumption of hard drugs has the capability to annihilate their mental abilities, reducing them to nothing more than pain. Perhaps the expression “a word to the wise is enough” holds true in this case.
