A Child, Heaven's Whisper

A child—a so brilliant and innocent gift,
Born to love, bespangled with light.
A life to shape, an inheritance of all love,
The Lord’s gift, tenderly shaped.

With dewy eyes, so great and aglow,
Rays of innocence none can deny.
A heart unstained by offence of the world,
A beam of hope in joy and sorrow.

A crown of glory for dear grandparents,
A mother’s pride, and ever nigh.
A father’s delight, firm and sure
Side by side they stand as life breaks out.

He shines like morning, face radiating light,
Following his mother’s grief at departing.
In that small face, stars are blazing so bright
A heart that yearns for darkest night.
