I arrogantly ignored the wisdom of my elders as I prepared to marry, only focusing on her outer beauty. She possessed alluring physical features that captivated all who laid eyes on her. She was a rare gem that commanded attention wherever she went, a sight to behold in our neighborhood.
But fate had a cruel twist in store for me. I encountered her in a bizarre and unsettling situation that still haunts me to this day. Despite the warning signs, I foolishly followed my heart without engaging my mind. Our paths crossed near a car, where I witnessed her being mistreated. I couldn’t stand by and watch as she was falsely accused of theft after providing services to a client.
I became her savior that day, and our bond deepened into a friendship that quickly blossomed into something more. When my parents learned of her and the circumstances of our meeting, they urged caution and advised me to distance myself. But I was already ensnared by her beauty, convinced that people can change and hoping she would too, blinded by the facade she presented.
Little did I know, the changes I saw were merely a disguise, concealing the truth beneath. And now, as I reflect on the choices I made, I am haunted by the realization that I ignored the warnings and allowed myself to be lured in by a beauty that was only skin deep.
