Heritage Month and Lent: A Journey of Reflection and Virtue

Heritage Month in Ghana would be incomplete without the recognition and participation of the Catholic Church and its members, especially as they step into the season of Lent. This period offers a unique opportunity for reflection on historical events and a journey with Christ on his way to Calvary.
Interestingly, the Islamic religion also observes Ramadan within the same month, sharing similar tenets with the Catholic Church’s Lent. Both are seasons of fasting, almsgiving, and prayer, providing an opportunity for deep introspection and the adoption of a better way of living a good life.
As the Catholic Church celebrates Lent and prepares to usher in a season of greater joy, the same holds true for the Islamic religion. As Catholics journey with Christ (via Crucis), it is essential for all of us to uphold virtues that will help us become good citizens of the world.
