Each passing day reveals a troubling reality: discipline, once the bedrock of our communities, is crumbling before our eyes. This decline is not confined to the streets or schools—it has seeped into the very heart of the Church. What was once a sanctuary of reverence is now, too often, marred by distraction and indifference.
It is disheartening to see individuals scrolling through social media or live-streaming during the Eucharist. The altar, meant to be a place of solemn encounter with God, is overshadowed by glowing screens. Such behaviour is not only disrespectful but also diminishes the sanctity of the liturgy. When worship is fragmented by digital noise, the beauty of our communion with God is compromised.
Yet amid this decline, there are glimmers of hope. The youth, with admirable zeal, are tackling waste in our communities—proving that discipline can be revived when hearts are committed. But if we fail to nurture discipline within the Church, even these noble efforts risk losing their deeper meaning.
We must ask ourselves: What would happen if we gave God the same attention we lavish on our phones? Even a few moments of undivided devotion could rekindle the flame of reverence and restore the rhythm of worship. Discipline is not a burden—it is the melody that harmonizes our lives.
