Sins of my father: High Expectation

Dejected son

Growing up as the son of an extraordinary man, I was surrounded by his aura of power and respect. His name was synonymous with success, and I proudly carried the weight of his legacy. It wasn’t just about admiration; it was an unspoken promise that his accomplishments would pave the way for my journey.
When my father landed the deputy role at his company, I was right by his side, soaking up every lesson on leadership and witnessing the high expectations placed upon him. I saw this as a crucial part of my preparation for the future. As he neared the end of his tenure as chairperson of the trade union, I knew it was my turn to step up and continue his legacy.

Come and experience the touch of God

Confidence surged through me as I geared up for the elections. I poured my heart and soul into gaining the support of union members, passionately presenting my case with unwavering conviction. Drawing from the blueprint of my father’s life, I emphasized my commitment to fairness and my vision for progress, fully believing that his foundation would secure my victory.
However, beneath my confidence lurked a blind spot I had failed to acknowledge. My father’s unwavering approach, once admired, had also left a trail of discontent. His refusal to adapt or consider differing viewpoints had alienated many. I brushed off these complaints, thinking they were insignificant and wouldn’t affect my campaign. I had worked hard to establish myself as an individual, separate from his shadow—or so I thought.
But the undercurrent of resentment was brewing. People remembered the frustrations they had experienced under his leadership, and some saw me not as my person, but as an extension of him. Doubts began to surface, even among those I considered allies.
Despite these challenges, my confidence remained unshaken. I was determined to prove that my work ethic and clear vision would prevail. I was ready to overcome any obstacle in my path and continue the legacy my father had built.
