The Call to True Selflessness

If one cannot share a material possession with another, how can they hope to share the gifts bestowed from above? Just as the abundance of the heart compels the mouth to speak, so too does the abundance or lack thereof in the hands dictate action. Stinginess withdraws, withholding what could flow freely to others.
It raises the question: can someone truly uphold their claim to live selflessly, dedicated to those around them, when their actions fail to align with their ideals? A person may be filled with countless admirable notions, yet these remain hollow without the effort to bring them to life.
Consider this: owning a car but refusing to offer a ride, even to your closest neighbor, when heading in the same direction. And yet, standing in the church, beneath the eyes of all, proclaiming a willingness to serve the community in every way possible. We say, “Sharing is caring,” but when care is absent, sharing becomes an untapped potential, a wasted resource.
Life, in its wisdom, has a way of holding us accountable when we neglect our duty to serve those around us. In such moments, we find ourselves as lone rangers, isolated by our unwillingness to play our part in the greater tapestry of society.
